Antiphon from Psalm 46 (Vulgate) / Psalm 47 (Hebrew Bible) with neumes in the antiphonary Codex Einsidlensis 121, 2nd half of the 10th century: Omnes gentes, plaudite manibus.

Psalm 47:1-5 [Latin Vulgate: Psalm 46:2-6]

1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.

Omnes gentes, plaudite manibus; jubilate Deo in voce exsultationis: quoniam Dominus excelsus, terribilis, rex magnus super omnem terram. Subjecit populos nobis, et gentes sub pedibus nostris. Elegit nobis haereditatem suam; speciem Jacob quam dilexit. Ascendit Deus in jubilo, et Dominus in voce tubae.

Luke 11:9-10 [Latin]

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9 Et ego dico vobis: Petite, et dabitur vobis; quaerite, et invenietis; pulsate, et aperietur vobis.

10 Omnis enim qui petit, accipit: et qui quaerit, invenit: et pulsanti aperietur.

A depiction of the parable of talents, showing two men brining their money back to their master (1712 woodcut)

Matthew 25:20b-21 [Latin]

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

21 Ait illi dominus ejus: Euge serve bone, et fidelis: quia super pauca fuisti fidelis, super multa te constituam; intra in gaudium domini tui.

20 Et accedens qui quinque talenta acceperat, obtulit alia quinque talenta, dicens: Domine, quinque talenta tradidisti mihi, ecce alia quinque superlucratus sum.

Judica me Deus, et discerne causam meam de gente non sancta: ab homine iniquo, et doloso eripe me: quia tu es Deus meus, et fortitudo mea”
Psalm 43:1-3 [Latin Vulgate: Psalm 42:1-3]

1 Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

1 Psalmus David. Judica me, Deus, et discerne causam meam de gente non sancta: ab homine iniquo et doloso erue me.

Quia tu es, Deus, fortitudo mea: quare me repulisti? et quare tristis incedo, dum affligit me inimicus?

Emitte lucem tuam et veritatem tuam: ipsa me deduxerunt, et adduxerunt in montem sanctum tuum, et in tabernacula tua.
