Orlando Gibbons

Psalm 38:1 [English]

1 O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

Have mercy upon me, O Lord, for I am weak:
O Lord, heal me, for my bones are vexed.
My soul is also sore troubled:
but, Lord, how long wilt thou punish me?
O save me, for thy mercy’s sake.

If the Lord had not helped me (Psalm 94:17-19, 22) – Edward Bairstow

Psalm 94:17-19, 22

17 Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.

19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

22 But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.

If the Lord had not helped me, composed by Sir Edward Cuthbert Bairstow (1874-1946)
